Your Holiday - When to Go
The Cape is a year round destination with clear blue skies throughout most days of the year. Even in the “winter months” of June and July, temperatures rarely drop below 10oC and beautiful clear sunny days are common. Though the mountain tops receive some snow during winter, this rarely survives the day.
This is a winter rainfall region and most of the rain falls in May, June and July. High summer is from mid January until mid March. While Europe shivers, the Cape bakes under constant sunshine. With minimal time difference, and therefore no Jet Lag, it is the ideal destination for Europeans seeking to escape from their cold winter.
Springtime is our favourite season, when the whole region is ablaze with a fantastic floral display. This is also the “Whale Season”, when thousands of Southern Right Whales migrate from their Antarctic feeding grounds to the bays of the Cape, where they breed. We tailor many of our spring walks to coastal mountain regions and extraordinary views of these 30 tonne monsters are commonplace. Autumn is cooler than the summer and the vines slowly turn brown. Surprisingly, many plants are still in full flower and the fynbos can be gorgeous.

Summer days can be very hot and during the Summer months (December through to the end of April) we offer numerous opportunities for “Kloofing” or “Canyoning”. Or, for the less adventurous or those nervous of heights, we have some fabulous river walks along crystal clear mountain streams, where there are ample opportunities to cool off or swim.
