What To Expect
Mountain Stream
We travel by car or minibus to the start of each hike. We always pick fast and interesting routes to our daily venue, and animals and birds are often spotted en route.
We walk at a steady pace and will stop often to look at things of interest. You should expect to see something quite outside of your previous experience every day, if not every few minutes.
The personal safety of our clients is our first concern. However we do expect people to behave sensibly. Stick to the path, do not throw away rubbish and do not make excessive noise. Follow the old mountaineers maxim “Take only photographs, leave only footprints”
Smoking on trails is strictly forbidden as a fire risk.
Fynbos
All flora and fauna are strictly protected. Do not kill or injure any animals and do not pick flowers.
At the end of each walk we often visit a place of interest, eg the penguin colony at Betty’s Bay. The timings of each day are carefully structured to allow you time to enjoy exploring these venues.
We aim to get back to your hotel by about 5.00 pm to allow people plenty of time to sunbathe for an hour or so or just get ready to go out in the evening.
The local wine is excellent and very cheap. Remember, if you over indulge, it will adversely impact on your ability to enjoy the rest of your vacation.
