Accommodation in Franschhoek
Franschhoek is one of the oldest villages in South Africa and has many fine old
houses. For anyone using Franschhoek as a base for hiking and/or just touring
around Western Cape, we strongly advise the Self Catering option.
Even if our own premises are occupied, there are many other options in the valley. Self catering
offers total freedom and complete privacy. Most premises are complete houses/cottages with
pools and lovely gardens; they all provide excellent value for money.
Franschhoek has an excellent large supermarket for shopping and the cafes
and restaurants are without peers in the whole country. Having your "own"
place gives you the time and freedom to explore the area at your own pace
and to really get up close to the local people.

17, Van Riebeeck Street
Located on a quiet street in the older part of the village, this totally refurbished
self catering villa is a wonderfully peaceful haven. The property is a bright, modern,
three bedroom bungalow style, with lots of windows, all with fantastic views of the
surrounding mountains, tiled floors and a spacious new kitchen with granite tops and
a full range of Bosch appliances.
The whole living area is open plan and very comfortably furnished; an 8 seater table
provides for dining and there is satellite TV. A wood burning stove keeps the atmosphere
cosy and warm on the rare occasion that it is needed; large glazed doors lead out to tiled
patios to both front and back of the main house.
The mature secluded rear garden features a substantial pool (8.5 x 3.5 metrs) and there
is a large covered braai area. The various mature trees are home to many small birds,
weavers, canaries, bulbuls, white eyes and numerous others.
There are three charming bedrooms at a slightly lower level from the living area. The property
also boasts three very modern bathrooms, two of which are en-suite, all with underfloor heating
and heated towel rails. The main bedroom leads out, via patio doors, to the pool area.
The house is extremely safe and secure with full alarm systems and an armed response service.
There is a large double garage and off road parking. For a rental of 7 nights or longer your accomodation will be
serviced and new linen provided once a week.
The main village, where there are excellent shops and eating places, is within easy walking distance.
